The company of New Zealand sporting royalty continues to inspire Olympic canoe sprinter Alicia Hoskin

The company of New Zealand sporting royalty continues to inspire Olympic canoe sprinter Alicia Hoskin

The 24-year-old and Dame Lisa Carrington have combined to claim K2 500 metres gold at the World Cup meet in Hungary.

As they prepare to race in that boat - and the K4 - at the looming Paris Games - Hoskin's told Planet Canoe it's a privilege to be alongside the five-time Olympic gold medallist.

The K4 quartet - who are the reigning world champions - missed the podium - finishing 4th in that final.

Meanwhile - the latest match-up between Carrington and Kiwi team-mate Aimee Fisher is on the horizon in the K1 500.

The pair are both through to tonight's semifinals.
