Hot temperatures are on the cards again today - right across the country

A number of regions had 20 to 21 degrees overnight, and many North Island areas will be hot to muggy today.

MetService expects north-westerly winds for Wellington, so it won't be quite as hot as yesterday.

Metereologist Mads Naeraa-Spiers says those winds will drive some really hot weather to the east of the South Island.

He says places like Christchurch, Timaru and Dunedin could hit 30 degrees today .. but it will be dry rather than humid.
