Quake remediation work's due to happen on Wellington's emergency department

Quake remediation work's due to happen on Wellington's emergency department

Three out of four truss connections on the roof of the fracture clinic and emergency department are deemed below 34 percent of the new building standard.

The rest of the building rates at 40 percent and above.

Wellington City Council considers buildings with less than a third of the new building standard 'quake-prone.'

Health New Zealand Head of Property Monique Fouwler says continued occupancy of the building is appropriate.

She says the risk of structural failure is highly unlikely in moderate or even significant quakes.
