Rumer Willis' experience of motherhood has been "validating"

The 35-year-old actress gave birth to her daughter Louetta in April 2023, and she's relished her experience of motherhood so far

Rumer - who is the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore - told PEOPLE: "My mom had me when she was 25, so I think as 25 started approaching and I had no boyfriend, I was like, 'Oh my God.' Then 30 hit, and I kept telling everyone, 'Well, maybe I'll just do it by myself.' I could feel like her little spirit around me and so knew that that was my path."

The actress explained that "everything really clicked into place" after she welcomed her daughter.

Rumer said: "When I would share that with people, even when I was in my late 20s, they were like, 'You're so young. You have so much time. What's the rush?'

"I'd be like, 'No, no. You don't understand. This is it for me.' As soon as I had her, it was like everything really clicked into place. It was exactly what I thought it would be.

"It also gave me a gift of knowing to trust my own intuition about what is right for me. I've never been happier in my life that I have this tiny little niblet."

Although Rumer has enjoyed success in her professional life, she considers motherhood to be her "favourite" thing.

She shared: "I feel like we're in an era that is really waking up to the power that is in motherhood.

"I know, for me, giving birth in my house and having that moment and going through that, you just tap into a power greater than yourself.

"I think when you give birth and you go through that transition into motherhood that it really deepens that power in yourself. Then you go through postpartum, and it's this weird, shared, lonely journey sometimes because there's so much that people don't talk about.

"I think what we've really lost in our society is a lot of the community of support in motherhood."
