Fruit and vegetables are cheaper yet again, but people are dipping further into their pockets for treats

Fruit and vegetables are cheaper yet again, but people are dipping further into their pockets for treats

Stats NZ data released this morning shows monthly food prices rose 0.6 percent in April, from March.

The increase is driven by higher prices for potato crisps, chocolate blocks, and olive oil.

But fruit and vegetables slightly offset the increase, with kiwifruit, broccoli, and mandarins costing less.

Stocking up on those healthy foods has become cheaper for the third consecutive month.
