Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have hired a cyber security team to protect their children online.

The 39-year-old actress revealed the couple find the internet "scary" and don't want their six children - Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and six-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - to be in danger while surfing the web.

Speaking about letting her kids use the internet, she said: "We have someone who monitors that. It's a scary new world."

Neither Angelina nor the 'Fury' actor are active on social media, and admit their poor understanding of social networks and online activity spurred her to hire the team of experts to protect her brood.

She added: "It's so beyond what we understand.

"We wouldn't even know what to look for."

While the 'Maleficent' star allows her kids to use the net, she confessed she is glad the same technologies didn't exist when she was a youngster .

She joked to People magazine: "I got in enough trouble, it just would have been very documented."

Last week, it was revealed Angelina was ill with chicken pox, which has caused her to miss several promotional events for her movie 'Unbroken' - which she has directed - and while attending a premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood in her place, Brad confirmed she is still feeling chirpy despite suffering from the contagious disease.

The 50-year-old actor quipped: "Her spirits are high. A little spotted and a little itchy, but her spirits are high."
