    Black Spoke rider James Oram has won a shortened opening stage of the New Zealand Cycle Classic in the Wairarapa


    Organisers removed one of the 34-kilometre laps due to the deteriorating weather conditions midway through the race.

    But Oram would've preferred the full distance.



    Australian Ryan Cavanagh placed second with the New Zealand National Team's Alex White third.
