Manawatu cyclist Campbell Stewart believes his Giro d'Italia road campaign will improve his odds of clinching gold on the track, at next year's Paris Olympics

The Tokyo silver medallist has moved onto Switzerland after competing in the 106th edition of the Italian Grand Tour... to begin preparations for the UCI World Championships in Glasgow in August - although he's yet to officially qualify.

Stewart's sure the three gruelling, nearly 3,500 kilometre trek will be beneficial in the long run, though short-term it might be negative.
