Unionised Area School teachers have accepted a collective agreement with the Government

Unionised Area School teachers have accepted a collective agreement with the Government

It's the last outstanding deal to be struck in the school sector - which has been disrupted by industrial action throughout the year.

Area school teachers will get a 14.5 percent pay rise, with a similar agreement ratified by secondary teachers earlier this month.

Post Primary Teachers' Association's Chris Abercrombie says area schools - which take all year levels - are often rural.

He says this is about ensuring every student in New Zealand - no matter where they are - has the same opportunity for success.
