???1;Hopes of finding effective ways to treat meth use, and addiction for Maori

Auckland University is teaming up with iwi and addiction services, for a two year study -- aiming for Maori to make up half of the participants.

Maori providers will be used for potential guidance, to help address over-representation in meth-related harm.

Research team member Pam Armstrong, says approaches for support have been historically mainstream, for both Maori and Pakeha.

She says it'll tell them if those mainstream approaches are working or not, and if they need to bring in more of a kaupapa Maori approach.
