An uncommon style of earthquake activity has been shaking the Ruapehu District

An uncommon style of earthquake activity has been shaking the Ruapehu District

Small quakes have been shaking for up to 10 minutes at a time.

GNS Science says over the last month, they've seen a maximum of six of these quakes a day - with some days bringing no shaking at all.

The volcano's crater lake has recently also seen a significant drop in temperature - and the volcanic alert level remains at one.
