    An aggressive approach has backed-fired on Steven Alker at the latest Champions Tour event in California


    Alker's landed in the water on the last hole of the tournament, seeing him tie for second after leading or sharing the lead for most of the final round.

    The Kiwi's finished one shot adrift of winner, South Africa's two-time US Open winner Retief Goosen who ended at 13-under overall.

    Meanwhile Ryan Fox has finished tied 78th at the PGA Tour event in Texas, 17 shots off winner Stephan Jaegar .

    Lydia Ko's finished 15-under for the tournament at the latest LPGA event in Arizona and on track for a top-20 finish with the leaders still playing.
