The return of Warbirds over Wanaka is expected to boost the tourist town by 40-million dollars

The return of Warbirds over Wanaka is expected to boost the tourist town by 40-million dollars

The airshow drew a record 70-thousand people to the two-day Easter event after a six year hiatus.

Wanaka Business Chamber general manager Glenn Peat says it's too early to say how much money was generated - but expects it to be more than in 2018.

He says it doesn't always translate to the Wanaka township - with many people staying in Cromwell and Queenstown.
