The Ministry of Health says it did not sufficiently brief the Mental health Minister on potential changes to the Suicide Prevention Office

The Ministry of Health says it did not sufficiently brief the Mental health Minister on potential changes to the Suicide Prevention Office

The Public Service Association has claimed a proposal to cut jobs within the Ministry would see the scrapping of the Suicide Prevention Office and halve numbers of staff focused on the issue.

Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey has laid out expectations that the office remain open.

The Ministry says it will work options through with him early next week.

It says it's sorry for any confusion caused.
