A symbolic pou whenua sculpture has been stolen from Christchurch's Port Hills

A symbolic pou whenua sculpture has been stolen from Christchurch's Port Hills

The Summit Road Orongomai sculpture was taken during Easter weekend - and reported to police last week.

The 60-kilogram totara carving symbolises the significance of Orongomai to Te-Hapu-o-Ngati Wheke.

The society believe it would have taken several people to get it off the two-and-a half metre plinth.
