A call to the government to add bus drivers to the national skill shortage list
20 February 2019
Wellington operator NZ Bus is down about 30 drivers - an 11 per cent shortfall.
The company's struggling to recruit replacements and is looking to overseas in desperation.
Chief executive Zane Fulljames says trips will have to be cancelled on a daily basis.
He says it's a collective issue and central government needs to get involved.
Fulljames says being able to catch the bus is an essential service for commuters and the uncertainty they face is unacceptable.
