Police are investigating an incident involving pupils from two neighbouring Oamaru High Schools that resulted in one being struck by a car

The incident took place at St Kevin's College grounds two weeks ago.

Sergeant Tony Woodbridge told the Otago Daily Times it's believed a group of Waitaki Boys students drove to to St Kevin's to throw eggs at the school's boarding hostel.

He says St Kevin's pupils confronted the Waitaki group, and threw eggs and rocks at the vehicle.

The vehicle's exit was then believed to be blocked, and the driver allegedly drove the vehicle into a pupil resulting in minor injuries.

Police are working with the Transport Agency to identify the registered owner of the vehicle.
