A reprieve for three thoroughbred racing venues that were due to close
A reprieve for three thoroughbred racing venues that were due to close
11 April 2019
New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing announced earlier this year it would cut the number of venues to 27, by 2030, because of unsustainable costs in the industry.
It's announced it will reduce closures this season - from 10, to seven.
Blenheim, Wairoa and Reefton tracks will continue to remain open for racing for 2019-2020.
The decision was made because of elements of geography, transport hubs, and accommodation for horses.
