The man charged with causing the deaths of three road workers in the eastern Bay of Plenty has admitted culpability

David Michael Cox has pleaded guilty to careless driving causing death, in an appearance at Whakatane District Court this morning.
Three contractors working on the side of the road were killed in the multiple truck smash the 46-year-old caused, on State Highway 2 near Matata in February.
1XX reporter Samantha Gardner says the public gallery was filled with family and friends of the victims.
She says people were sobbing and crying.
Cox was remanded at large until June 19th.
