The Coroner is calling for a taskforce to tackle quad-bike related deaths

The Coroner is calling for a taskforce to tackle quad-bike related deaths

Kaye Blance died in May 2015, after being trapped under a quad bike in Westport.

Coroner Brigitte Windley recommends relevant industry bodies - including WorkSafe NZ, MBIE , ACC and Federated Farmers - establish a working party to review Australian recommendations.

She wants to see if they could be implemented here - including a minimum level of stability and the fitting of an Operator Protection Device.

99 people have been killed in quad bike incidents since 2007, including seven in 2018.
