A more tailored approach is being worked on for treatment of those with Type 2 diabetes

Around 200 thousand New Zealanders are affected by the condition.
At the moment, doctors are forced to use trial and error to determine which drug treatment is right for each case.
Associate Professor of medicine at Auckland University, Rinki Murphy is launching a drive to work out what factors affect how a person reacts to the medication they're prescribed.
She says cancer treatment is becoming more precise and it's time diabetes treatment is too.
