    A West Coast man broke down in tears as he was accused of murdering a baby


    The 10 month old boy - from Hokitika - died shortly before midday after being airlifted to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries.

    A thirty-year-old man is facing one charge of murder in relation to the incident.

    He appeared by video link in court - supported in court by his mother and sister.

    The man repeatedly wept, turning away from the camera.

    An application for bail was denied - but his lawyer has indicated he'll be fighting the charge.
