Officials are investigating three helicopters crashes this week

Officials are investigating three helicopters crashes this week

On Tuesday, two people died and three survived after a chopper crashed on a beach north of Kaikoura.

But, there were also two non-fatal wire-strikes involving Robinson R44 helicopters.

The first occurred on Tuesday morning, west of Te Kuiti -- where a chopper's main rotor blade struck electricity supply wires and then landed in a clearing.

The next day, a person was moderately injured after their helicopter struck wires and crashed while carrying out agricultural work in rural Mahia.
