Infometrics data suggests the Queenstown-Lakes District is expected to be New Zealand's worst-hit.
The region is forecast to have nine-thousand fewer jobs by next year, and its economy projected to lose 785-million-dollars.
Senior Economist Gareth Kiernan says there are also a number of other towns that could be impacted.
He says it's mainly the regions that are heavily reliant on international tourism like the McKenzie District, parts of the West Coast and Kaikoura.
