People who've had a recent flu jab will need to wait before lining up for the Covid-19 vaccine

People who've had a recent flu jab will need to wait before lining up for the Covid-19 vaccine

Northland District Health Board has begun immunising residents over the age of 50 against Covid-19.

Shots are available at Semenoff Stadium in Whangarei, Kaitaia Hospital and a walk-in Whangarei clinic.

But the DHB warns people who have had a recent flu vaccine will need to wait 14 days.

Auckland University vaccinologist Helen Petousis-Harris says the two jabs need to be separated.

She says it ensures if there's a reaction to the Covid-19 vaccine, there's no confusion over what caused it.
