    A fire can kill you in a matter of minutes


    That's the message fire and emergency is trying to get across after three fatal blazes in one day.

    The infernos killed people in Hihi in the Far North, Manawatu's Hunterville and Waihi, north of Tauranga.

    Risk reduction and investigations manager, Todd O'Donoghue says in all three cases the fires were very fast.

    He says flames can take over a whole house in three minutes.
