KiwiRail has spent more than $3 million dollars fixing rail assets as a direct result of Buller's devastating floods

KiwiRail has spent more than $3 million dollars fixing rail assets as a direct result of Buller's devastating floods

The Local Democracy Reporting Service reports the state-rail operator is now on board, as work is finalised on a business case for a multi-million dollar flood protection scheme for Westport.

Questions have been raised at the West Coast Regional Council over whether KiwiRail, a substantial stakeholder in Westport, would front up.

KiwiRail says it will attend the next meeting of the Westport Technical Advisory Group - which is made up of multiple stakeholders preparing the business case for the Government.
