Police are investigating a suspicious building fire in Motueka yesterday morning

Officers are working alongside Fire and Emergency to establish the circumstances around the blaze on Greenwood Street.

A police spokesperson says they would like to hear from anyone with information.

That includes people in the vicinity of the fire between 6.45am and 8.30am who may have seen anything out of the ordinary.

The public can call the police non-emergency line on 105 to provide details.
