The New Zealanders suffered two yellow cards - then a red to prop Angus Ta'avao - and have been forced to play for 50 minutes a man down.
But the hosts came back before halftime... to only trail 10-7... both sides scoring a try apiece.
The Irish have scored again though - a second to prop Andrew Porter - they led 20-7 with 20 minutes remaining... a short time ago.
Another win in the Supercars for Shane van Gisbergen.
The Kiwi champ started on pole in Townsville, but was overtaken on the start by Will Davison.
But van Gisbergen got his revenge on the Aussie, retaking the lead with just over 4 laps to go.
