The Crusaders second-rower missed the 23-12 loss in Dunedin after reporting delayed onset concussion symptoms from the first test win.
He's progressing through the 12-day graduated return to play and coach Ian Foster says Whitelock is on track.
Concussion symptoms or a suspension, or both will rule Angus Ta'avao out of Wellington while wing Caleb Clarke is still not fit.
