New findings around the link between antibiotics during pregnancy, and children developing asthma

A review from Wellington's Malaghan Institute of Medical Research has analysed 27 studies and found a significant correlation.
The risk was consistent for antibiotic use in any trimester.
Leader researcher Dr Alissa Cait says it's another thing to consider when using or prescribing the drug during pregnancy.
She says she'd never recommend avoiding antibiotics if they were needed, but perhaps pros and cons could be factored in.
