29 July 2022
He was stabbed in the leg after he and an associate were involved in an argument with a small group outside the Wesley Methodist church on Taranaki Street shortly before nine pm.
The 48-year-old was given first aid by a passerby before emergency services arrived.
He's now recovering in ICU after surgery.
Police are now trying to identify his attacker who's described as being of medium build, around 175-centimetres tall, wearing a dark baseball cap and light-coloured hoodie.
They're also interested in speaking to the occupants of white Mitsubishi L300 van parked in the church carpark at the time.
