Christchurch police say further charges are likely, after the death of a cyclist involved in a hit and run two weeks ago

Sean William Russell Innes died in hospital yesterday, two weeks after being hit by a car on Linwood Avenue.

Police have extended their sympathies to the family and friends of the 45 year-old.

A 43-year-old Ashburton man has been arrested and charged with driving dangerously causing injury, driving while disqualified, and failing to stop or ascertain injury.

He appeared from custody at Christchurch District Court on September 14 and is due back in court on October 5.
