A jury will be asked to decide if the woman accused of murdering her three children in their Timaru home was insane at the time

A jury will be asked to decide if the woman accused of murdering her three children in their Timaru home was insane at the time

Lauren Dickason allegedly killed 6-year-old Liané, and 2-year-old twins Maya and Karla in September 2021.

She appeared in the High Court at Christchurch today, where it was confirmed she'll mount a defence of insanity and infanticide at her trial, which begins next month.

NZ Herald reporter Anna Leask says her lawyers will call experts who say she was insane, while the Crown's expert will say the opposite.

She says there'll also a court appointed, independent expert, who will do a report on what they think was happening at the time.
