New biosecurity measures in the Bay of Islands, to stop the exotic Caulerpa seaweed spreading

From tomorrow, it's illegal to fish or anchor in part of Te Rawhiti.

Biosecurity New Zealand says two species of Caulerpa have been found around Omakiwi Cove - likely there a number of seasons.

The introduced seaweeds spread rapidly and form dense underwater fields.
