    An elderly dog stolen from a Christchurch rescue shelter has been found in Timaru


    Police have confirmed Buddy was located safe and well, after they were able to track down the thief thanks to the shelters CCTV.

    In the footage, several dogs can be heard barking as a man broke into to Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue yesterday afternoon.

    A 47-year-old man has been charged with the burglary, and will appear in the Timaru District Court next week.

    Police say Buddy remains in good spirits, and will be returned to Christchurch at the soonest opportunity.
