Tairawhiti Police have arrested two teens believed to be behind a spate of car thefts and burglaries

Four offenders with weapons stole sweets and cigarettes from a Makaraka Road store in Gisborne late last month.

In following weeks cars were broken into, then abandoned.

An 18-year-old's appeared in Gisborne District Court this afternoon, and a 17-year-old is due in the Youth Court next month.

Both face theft charges, and the 18 year old, gun possession.
