Stuart Nash says Ministers should have more freedom to comment on the judiciary

Stuart Nash says Ministers should have more freedom to comment on the judiciary

The Labour MP for Napier's delivering his final speech in the House.

Previously Police Minister, Nash resigned from Cabinet after transgressions including admitting calling the Police Commissioner questioning a court decision.

Nash says as a legislator he understands the justice system needs to be independent.

But, he argues that when he sees members of the judiciary ignoring guidance from parliament, he's earned the right to call them out.

Nash says the highs have been lofty and the lows are forgotten.

He says it was a privilege to serve.
