The new 'holiday highway' is no match for busy holiday congestion

The new 'holiday highway' is no match for busy holiday congestion

Those heading north from Auckland to Warkworth should still expect delays on busy travel days.

Travel time for those taking the route on quieter days is noticeably shorter - but large numbers of motorists create a bottleneck.

AA spokesperson Martin Glynn says we may need to wait until the full highway project from Auckland to Whangarei is complete to reduce travel times.

He says the bottleneck forms at the roundabout north of Warkworth where the motorway ends.
