The two victims of Friday's Peria tragedy in the Far North, are two boys ... a four-year-old from Auckland and a six-year-old from Perth

The two cousins were holidaying at their grandmother's farm, east of Kaitaia.

A family member shared details of their loss on social media.

They were two of six people on the Utility Terrain Vehicle when it hit a boulder, careering the vehicle into an 11-metre deep water hole at Waikainga Stream.

The area is a popular swimming hole, with a rural gravel road running alongside it.

There's a six metre sheer drop off the road into the water.
