Wellington police are investigating two aggravated robberies at New World supermarkets, linked to crypto-currency

Wellington police are investigating two aggravated robberies at New World supermarkets, linked to crypto-currency

It's alleged victims have met in person with people they've spoken to online, to trade cash for crypto.

In one incident, at the underground carpark of New World Newlands, on the night of February 29 - an alleged offender got into a victim's car, before stealing cash and fleeing.

And this week a victim was invited into a car, where one person's said to have stolen cash while another person pointed a gun at the victim.

Police have recovered the vehicle and an imitation gun from a Strathmore property -- and believe there could be more victims out there.
