A Coroner's ruled the death of a Christchurch mother-of-four as the result of an "accidental fall whilst intoxicated"

A Coroner's ruled the death of a Christchurch mother-of-four as the result of an "accidental fall whilst intoxicated"

Heather Foote died in July 2021, two days after she was found critically injured at her Heathcote Valley home.

Neither police nor the pathologist found evidence of foul play.

Coroner Heather McKenzie says in her ruling that after reviewing the case, an inquiry isn't necessary or desirable.

She says Foote's direct cause of death was acute subdural haemorrhage -- the result of a blunt force head injury from her fall.

McKenzie says post-mortem results indicate the 56-year-old was a "chronic alcoholic".
