A warning to Ashburton locals -- to keep an eye out for an increase in train movements

A warning to Ashburton locals -- to keep an eye out for an increase in train movements

KiwiRail's advising drivers and pedestrians to avoid travelling down Fairfield Road at certain times over the coming month.

Starting today, freight trains will be moving wagons across the road between 9.30 and 10.30 every morning.

They'll be doing the same between 8.45 and 9.30 at night -- and 1.30 to 2.15 in the morning -- blocking the road for up to 10 minutes at a time.
