    Pharmac has opened consultation to fund two new medicines for urinary tract infection and epilepsy


    It says if funding is approved, nearly 3,000 people will benefit from these treatments in the first year.

    The medicines proposed are fosfomycin which can treat UTIs, and zonisamide which can treat some forms of epilepsy

    Pharmac's Alexandra Compton says fosfomycin reducing the number of people who end up hospital due to UTI's complications by 80 percent.
