Invercargill Police are hopeful there will be no red cards for southern rugby fans this afternoon

Invercargill Police are hopeful there will be no red cards for southern rugby fans this afternoon

Stag Day officially kicks off at 2pm, with Southland taking on Otago at Rugby Park.

Officers say they'll have a noticeable presence in the CBD, with major influxes of fans expected.

Southland Police spokesperson, Mel Robertson is reminding punters to look after themselves and their mates.

She says they want to see everyone enjoying themselves, and have a zero-tolerance approach to violence and alcohol related offending.
