New Zealanders have been making the most of the long weekend with some last minute domestic getaways

New Zealanders have been making the most of the long weekend with some last minute domestic getaways

New Booking.com data shows Auckland, Queenstown and Christchurch, are the top three searched holiday spots for those travelling.

Wellington and Taupo -- which the accommodation provider named among its most welcoming cities -- rounded off the top five.

Meanwhile, closer to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, Paihia has also jumped up two places to seventh compared to last year.
