House prices are continuing to fall, but some parts of the country keep bucking the trend

Real Estate Institute figures show the median price has fallen 1.7 percent in the past 12 months, with declines in Auckland and Wellington.

But Canterbury's median rose 4-and-half percent.

Institute Chief Executive, Jen Baird, says medians in Gisborne and Nelson also went up more than a quarter.

Nelson's median price has reached an all-time record high of 840-thousand dollars.
