The Emergency Management Minister is expected to visit flood-affected South Island regions tomorrow

The Emergency Management Minister is expected to visit flood-affected South Island regions tomorrow

Local states of emergency are still in place for Nelson Tasman and Marlborough with extensive damage to farmland and infrastructure in the Motueka Valley.

One person died south-east of Wakefield while clearing flood damage - a rahui covers the entire South Island northern coastline.

Sections of State Highway 6 and 63 are still closed.

Nelson Mayor Nick Smith says Mark Mitchell's visit will signal the start of recovery.

Dr Smith says there'll be millions of dollars in bills flowing in for property owners and council.
