Damson Idris loved working with Sir Lewis Hamilton on F1

The former Formula One World Champion served as an ex ecutive producer and makes a brief cameo in the new motorsport movie, and Idris has revealed that he relished working with Lewis on the project.

The 33-year-old actor - who stars alongside Brad Pitt in the movie - told BBC 1Xtra: "When it comes to driving he really encouraged me.

"He brought that energy on set that just reminded us of how authentic this movie is and that was always our goal - to make the most authentic racing movie of all time.

"And Lewis is my brother as well so to see him getting his acting bag was so amazing to me."

Despite this, Damson admitted that shooting the action scenes was still challenging for him.

He shared: "You need to remember when you're driving those cars sometimes you're hitting 180 miles per hour. I was moving, it was fire.

"Then on top of that, you got to act within a movie, you've still got to try and look cute."

Meanwhile, Lewis recently revealed that he "loved" working on F1.

The 40-year-old sports star told Extra: "I love how it all came out.

"It's been like four years we've been working on it, so it's been a long, long road.

"I've never been a part of creating a movie from the first treatment to working on the script to working on the characters to watching all the different videotapes of the actors doing their scenes."

Lewis actually got to take Brad, 61, on a racing track at one point, as part of his preparations for the movie. And the former world champion relished the experience of working with Brad.

He shared: "I got to take Brad out for the first time a couple years ago on a track and then I said, 'Show me what you can do.' And he took me out on a lap and straight away I could see he was already a bit of a racing driver ... I wasn't scared for him."

By contrast, Damson was far less comfortable on a race track.

Lewis recalled: "I was a little bit scared, because I don't think Damson grew up watching ... like, black families don't grow up watching racing ... I think he probably was thrown in the deep end, but he did such an amazing job."
