More weather warnings today for the upper South Island - with a Heavy Rain Watch in effect until 2pm

A slip's closed a section of State Highway 6 in Nelson slip this morning.

MetService forecaster, Heather Keats, says the whole area is vulnerable.

Flooding and slips are also blocking North Island state highways, including number 3 at Awakino, 43 between Stratford and Taumarunui, and 4 between Whanganui and Raetihi.

Severe thunderstorms are again possible in many areas today.
